We were asked to create a self portrait which didn't show ourselves within the image. I started out by thinking of my hair representing my DNA, my genes, something completely unique to me. However, a lock of hair seemed too cliche and so I began to experiment with hair collected from my hair brush. Finally, I added bits of dirt, leaves and so on from my carpet that had come in on the bottoms of my shoes. I felt these bits of dirt could almost represent me in a way as well as it shows where I've been. This was my final shot. It looks disgusting, but it's my self portrait.
